How to care for your embroidered and printed clothes so they last a long time?

Comment entretenir vos vêtements brodés et imprimés pour qu’ils durent longtemps?

When you receive a custom embroidered or printed sweater, you want it to stay beautiful for a long time—whether to preserve a precious memory or simply because it looks stylish 🔥. Here are our best simple tips, tried and tested by the Brodame team, to keep your embroidered and printed garments in top shape 👇

Care instructions for embroidered garments

Embroidery is durable — but like anything made with care, it deserves a little love:

🧼 Washing

• Wash inside out: always! It protects the threads and prevents direct friction.
• Cold or lukewarm water (never hot): heat can shrink the fabric and stress the stitches.
• Gentle cycle or by hand, if possible.
• Avoid bleach or harsh products.

🌬️ Drying

• In the open air, ideally flat to avoid distorting the embroidery.
• Tumble drying is possible, at low temperature, but it is not recommended regularly.

🏭 Ironing

• If you iron: always on the reverse side, or use a thin cloth between the iron and the embroidery.
• No direct steam on the wire.
⚠️ Bonus tip: avoid folding the garment directly over the embroidery, to preserve the relief and sharpness of the design.

Care instructions for printed garments

Printed garments (screen printing, DTF) are a little more sensitive than embroidery, especially when it comes to washing.

🧼 Washing

• Always upside down, so that the print does not rub directly against the washing machine drum.
• Cold water only to preserve the ink.
• Gentle cycle, without bleaching products.

🌬️ Drying

• Dry flat or hanging, but never in direct sunlight.
• No dryer if possible — the heat will cause the designs to crack or peel off over time.

🏭 Ironing

• Never iron directly on the print. Always cover the image with a cloth or iron on the reverse side.
• Avoid using an iron that is too hot.

🧡 A little care = a lot more style
Taking care of your embroidered or printed garments prolongs their lifespan, preserves their look, and enhances their meaning. Whether it's a "Loving Mom" hoodie or a locally printed t-shirt, every Brodame piece deserves care that matches its vibe.
